Looks Authentic? Prove It.
A familiar sender address, signature or logo does not prove that a received document or email matches what its issuer certified. Certidox provides a certified reference that recipients can check independently.
Explore document and email verificationKnow Exactly What Was Certified
For a Certidox-certified document or email, recipients can verify:
- Recorded origin: who certified it
- Exact certified content: the certified reference to compare
- Certification date: when the record was certified
- Current status: whether the certification is valid, revoked or superseded

Scan the QR code in this real certified PDF. The app displays the certification result, then lets you open the certified reference for comparison. For detailed instructions, see How Certidox Works.
These smartphone mockups illustrate the verification workflow; they do not show a live status check. Scan the original PDF QR code to confirm the current certification status, then compare the certified reference before relying on it.
Stay in Control After Distribution
The certification status can change after distribution, while the original certified content remains unchanged. Authorized certifiers can revoke a certification, and eligible previous verifiers may receive status-change alerts without recalling the document or email.

The American Bar Association adopted these resolutions in 2023. They address distinct questions relevant to verifiable digital information.
Resolution 503: e-Apostilles and e-Registers
Encourages authorities to use electronic apostilles and online registers for public-document authentication. Certidox supports independent verification but does not replace an official apostille.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Certidox used for?
Certidox allows recipients to instantly check who certified a document or email, when it was certified and whether its certification is still valid at the time of verification. They can also open the exact certified reference and compare it with the content they received before relying on it.
Do I have to use the Certidox app to verify a document?
No. Certidox also supports verification from a computer with a camera and an API that can automate checks of incoming documents. For independent technical examination, an Independent Verification Bundle allows third parties to verify historical certified content and timestamp evidence without relying on the mobile app or the Certidox API. A bundle does not establish the current certification status, which must be checked live through Certidox.
Can I verify a printed document or a copy?
Yes. Certidox supports digital and printed documents, originals and copies. Scan the readable QR code, then compare the received document with the certified reference.
Can a certification be revoked after distribution?
Yes. An authorized certifier can revoke or supersede a certification without altering the original certified content. Recipients checking the QR code see the current status, and eligible previous verifiers may receive status-change alerts.
Are the contents of my documents and emails confidential?
Yes. Documents are encrypted on the certifier's computer, and outgoing emails are encrypted within the organization. Certidox servers do not store readable certified content or decryption keys. Learn about Confidential by Design.
Does Certidox guarantee that every statement in a certified document is true?
No. Certidox makes the recorded certification information and exact certified content independently verifiable. It does not guarantee the factual accuracy or legal validity of the statements contained in a document.
Does an Independent Verification Bundle show the document's current status?
No. The bundle supports independent cryptographic verification of historical certified content, integrity and timestamp evidence. Whether a certification is currently valid, revoked or superseded must be checked live through Certidox.
Does a certified email prove delivery or receipt?
No. Certidox provides a verifiable record of certified email information. Certification alone does not prove that an email was delivered, received or read.
